Hello BBQ fans
Hello everyone!!

July has been very trying for me. It's like all my years of promoting my style of BBQ in BC has been for nothing. I had the most unrealistic people wanting me to stay up all night cooking for $10.00 a head. I make this comentary because i want anybody who is considering me to know. I got into catering BBQ becuse it's what I truly love to do. I opened up a restaurant in Langley in 2001, actually 2 weeks before 9/11 how weird. I've lost 1/4 mil dollars working this dream of mine to do BBQ fulltime. Only thing is I seem to get people asking for the world but not willing to pay for it. Southern style BBQ takes hours not minutes like a Mcdonald's Burger. I hate turning people away as i have recently. But I've decided that I will only take the work were people want me there and are willing to pay for the hard work I put into Catering all private functions I do. Prior to going into Catering I had a very busy Maintenance Business and looks like I will be going back to my bread and butter. Funny everyone that has learned from me is doing well. I wander why people have the nerve to ask me to feed 200 people for $10.00 a head and get upset when I tell them I can't do it!! I love all the people who have hired me, for the most part they've all been down to earth people. I'm not much of a stuffed shirt type of person and will never be. I believe my greatest asset and sometimes fault as I can only be myself you'll alway's see the same guy.. It took 50 years to get comfortable in my own skin and I ain't looking back for anyone. All I ask is if you have a budget be upfront and i'll tell you what i can and cannot do. At the end of the day were all happy!! Please have some integrity nothing pisses me off more than people who agree to a price and then try to add more stuff aterwards. I know i'm breaking one of the cardinal sins of good marketing I should be all about positivity and I am a positive thinking person. But I thought it was time to be an honest straight shooter instead. I have the proud responsibility of taking care of 5 kids and a beautiful wife and I need to do what's best for my family, because at the end of the day they matter the most to me. To everyone who has supported me I love ya keep in touch.
Keep on qu'ing

Wow what a great summer it was met a lot of great people fed thousands of people my BBQ.We had the opporunity to do several (6) 50th and 60th wedding aniversarys can you imagine. Every guy had the same tip to offer me."Mike after all these years i've realized you have to give up and say, yes dear your right!! thing go alot smoother that way. I've only put in 17 years so far I still need a little work on that. Last week October 25/2008
I donated food for a fund raiser for a gentleman by the name of Doug Docksteader it was a good time had by all but most importantly we helped to raise $6000.00 for his family. He was only 47 years old and Cancer took him a week before the event may his soul rest in peace.. I've always believed in helping my fellow man whenever possible it's my way of thanking god for all my blessings. Anyway Christmas season is upon us So let's see what kind of fun we can have to finish out the year. until then. Give your family a hug for me!!!
